It's a Witch!

Day 17

States Traveled Through: Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine

Today was an early morning! We woke up at 6:30 and were at breakfast by 7:00. We were at the DoubleTree in Danvers, Massachusetts. Our goal this morning was to drive the 30 minutes to Gloucester to catch our boat to go WHALE WATCHING!! Can you say bucket list item?? We had to be at the boat by 8:30 and it would be departing at 9:00. We actually got a GroupOn for this whale excursion. The company is called Captain Bill and Sons. The regular cost of the excursion is $48 but our Groupon was for $22. GREAT deal!! It took about 2 hours to get to the whales. Once to the site we got to watch 2 Humpback Whales for about 20-30 minutes before having to turn back. It was an incredible experience to see these wonderful whales in the wild. I also got a pretty nasty sunburn on my face and chest. Boo! If you are in the area you will need to look up Captain Bills.

I'm on a boat!
We're on a boat!
All three of us are on a boat!!

We did not see Orcas...
After getting some lunch we went to Salem, Massachusetts. This is the town where the Salem Witch Trials happened. It is about 30 minutes from where the whale place was. We parked our car and then paid our $10 to enter the museum. I would not really recommend this place for kids. It was a bit creepy. It was really informative and interesting but probably for middle school aged students at the youngest.

I would probably be a good witch... Maybe!
Where one of the "witches" lived.

After visiting Salem we headed to our final destination of the day. We headed for Portland, Maine!! I've never been to Maine before! We had to first go through New Hampshire!

Then it happened!! We made it to Maine!!
This is us after 17 days of travel!
Thank you for this information Maine.
This sign as well.
And this sign. Celeste made sure to do her stretches.
Don't forget about Smokey the Bear!! He is so cute!
We made it to Portland just as the sun was setting. We are settled into our hotel room. The staff is very friendly. Check back tomorrow to see where we end up!
