He's my Huckleberry

 Day 13

I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I left Texas. I've traveled almost 3,000 miles so far, and there is still a week left of the trip. Today's adventures took us more north to Kalispell, Montana. Our drive was about 2 hours.

Along our route we made a quick, unplanned stop at the Ninepipes Museum. This was mainly a gift shop and an area outside to explore. We took a couple of pictures and then saw a little shop next door. The store had Huckleberry Ice Cream. Well, I have been wanting to try this since we were in Utah. The ice cream was so good and refreshing.

After our snack we continued our trip. The route from GPS took us right next to Flathead Lake. The view were amazing! I was driving so Derek snapped a few pictures from the road. You just can't capture the beauty in pictures.

As we approached our hotel we realized we were hungry! There is this burger place right next to the hotel called MudMan. OMG! The buns are made fresh, the meat tasted fresh as well, and they have a special sauce that was amazing! They put chili on their burgers but we asked for it on the side.

After lunch we headed to the historical district of Kalispell. One of the top sights to see is the Conrad Mansion Museum. It was really cool to learn about Mr. Conrad and his family. 90% of the artifacts in the house belonged to the family as his daughter, Alicia, was a hoarder. Charles Conrad founded Kalispell in 1891/1892. Here are some pictures of the mansion. If you are ever in Kalispell, check it out!

After the mansion we drove to the historical downtown. We decided to wait and check it out tomorrow. A quick drive to the hotel and an easy check-in was followed by a relaxing evening in our hotel room. Our lunch was so filling that we just had a couple of snacks for "dinner." I'm now rested and ready for our next journey.
