Lazy Sunday

 Day 14

I have learned that even if you plan everything really well, things don't always go your way. Covid-19 has changed how a lot of things are done. 8 months ago, when I started planning this trip, today was supposed to be spent at Glacier National Park driving the Going to the Sun Road. Well, Glacier had other plans. To limit traffic, they have you sign up for their main road. They only release spots 2 days in advance but the ticket is good for 7 days. Well, I tried for 7 days with no luck at reserving a spot. I guess it was all for the best because today was very lazy and we took it easy. Derek and I got up later, grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then found out that most of the town is closed on Sunday. Womp, womp!

This morning we left our hotel around noon to walk up and down historical Main Street. We were walking around for about 2 hours. We grabbed some ice cream at Sweet Peaks Ice Cream. Derek had a blueberry ice cream and I had "Bear Tracks" which was chocolate with peanuts and pretzels. It was lighter and so delicious. The waffle cones were made fresh in the shop and you can tell as soon as you walk in as the scent wafts into your nose.

After ice cream we continued our walk. Here are a few pictures from today.

We decided to have a late lunch/early dinner. I love to try restaurants that can't be found back home. Well, we found this place called Moose's Saloon. We walked in and it was so dark! LOL! We weren't sure if we seat ourselves or what was going on. We decided to grab a booth and observe what other people did. First, you go up to the bar to order your drinks. I chose Root Beer and Derek got a Moose Drool which is a brown ale. Moose Drool is from Big Sky Brewery which can be found in Missoula (Derek thinks that you can get Moose Drool somewhere in Texas so we will be looking for it!) I actually liked his beer and would get it sometime. The restaurant is a pizza joint as well but you have to order from a separate window and pay separately. Y'all! The pizza was so good! It ended up being the perfect place! Oh, you can also get some peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. It brought back so many childhood memories!

It was a great Lazy Sunday and we are now ready for our busy week! We are leaving bright and early for our next destination.
