Cayenne Pepper Ice Cream

Day 14

States: 13/20
Capitols: 9/13
Days: 14/20

We have officially been gone for 2 weeks! We are onto our last week of travel and still have so much to see and do! Today we left the Chicago area for our final destination of Columbus, Ohio. We left bright and early and stopped at none other than Starbucks. I am only 16 stars away from Gold Level status! So exciting!!

We decided to avoid the tollroads on our way to Indianapolis, Indiana. After we got out of the city and into Indiana we started to see these gray things in the sky. Could they be rain clouds? Not on our vacation! Well, the heavens opened and gave us rain. We got to the capitol, brought our umbrellas, and got soaked. We quickly took pictures! Indianapolis was my 22 capitol building.

When we got to the car I realized we hadn't took any pictures with the dome! So, I shot some paparazzi type pictures from the car.

After surviving the rain and lightning we got to Ohio! State number 13 on our journey! Only 7 more states and we will reach our goal of 20! The sun came out for our pictures.

We got to Columbus and there was a Jazz and Ribs festival going on. So we had to find an alternate route. We had an interesting conversation about the street names in Columbus. We were driving down the street and Celeste was about to turn and I stopped her because it was the wrong street.
Celeste: "I thought we were on Macaroni Street."
Me: "No, that last turn was Macaroni"
Celeste: "This is the stupidest conversation."
Later we sang the Yankee Doodle song and laughed about our stupid conversations... they are funny to us!

So, here is my 23rd Capitol Building!!! Columbus, Ohio! This is the state where my mom was born. I'm so glad we made it to Ohio on this Capitol journey.

After pictures with the capitol building we headed to Celeste's cousins house. Greg and Becky are so awesome! They made us a home cooked meal: chicken fajitas. Yummo!!

We then went to the yummiest ice cream place. I got: Queen City Cayenne which is chocolate with a kick of cayenne! OMG! the almond colored one is Salted Caramel and the speckled one is The Buckeye State which is chocolate and peanut butter. I am seriously going to try to make some of these at home once I buy the book.

Overall it was a great day! Where do you think we are headed tomorrow?? We only have a few more days of our journey!! Thank you for following along. Celeste has been running during our trip! Here is her blog: http://34justme.blogspot.com/

Thanks for reading!
