OMG! Cracker Barrel

Day 12
Stats so far:

States traveled through up to date: Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan! 12 states!!!

Capitols so far: 7

After our 2 days in the city our feet needed a little break. So, we hopped in the car and were off to Michigan for the day! We had about a 4 1/2 hour drive to Lansing, Michigan. We left around 9:30 thinking we would avoid Chicago rush hour traffic. Um... I think there is traffic every second of every day. Also, the roads are so confusing! 94 local; 94 express. Which one do I take?? We ended up not getting lost thank goodness! We went through Indiana and looked for the welcome sign... NO luck! On our way home we snapped the following shot:

It was then time for a gas station break and a coffee break. I think I am going to be gold level status from Starbucks by the end of this trip. With our coffee in hand we were off to the capital of Michigan: Lansing!

When we arrived at the capitol the parking was all blocked off! People were cleaning up after what looked like a party. They were Amish! We got our pictures and I have officially been to 21 capitol buildings. We went inside to use their restrooms and we visited the dome.

After touring the capitol and finding our about this Capitol Passport thing (you can collect stamps at every capitol) we were off to.... CRACKER BARREL!! OMG! I have never been so excited for breakfast food. It was great. Now comes the interesting thing... we went hunting for a postcard for our winners from the challenge of the day. We went to the first gas station... The guy didn't know what a postcard was. We went to the second gas station... it took that guy a reminder of what a postcard was to say they didn't sell postcards. Our last try was Walmart. Celeste came back to the car... empty handed... or did she? Krista will have to find out what her prize is in the coming days. We came to the conclusion that Michigan doesn't sell postcards.

We then left for Chicago and got to the city area around 8 thinking rush hour would be over. I was wrong again! I hate traffic but I survived driving in the city.

Thanks for reading!
